The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards have existed since 1923 and the contest affords students across the country the opportunity to be recognized for their talents.  At the regional level, students are selected to receive the Gold Key, the Silver Key, or Honorable Mention.  Additionally, each state nominates five selected Gold Key level awards as American Visions & Voices Nominees to be further judged with the hope of achieving the distinction of “Best of Show”.

Regional awards ceremony: Gold and Silver Key winners and their teachers are welcome to participate in the Massachusetts Scholastic Art and Writing Awards regional awards celebration, which will be held on Saturday, March 11 at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.

The Gold Key winning pieces will now continue on electronically to New York to compete against all the other Gold Key Winners from the other regions of the country. At the National level, work can win a GOLD MEDAL or a SILVER MEDAL.  National Awards are announced in Mid-March.  Congrats to 7th grader Dustin Zhang as his humor piece advances to the National level!
